Haydn String Quartet in C major Op 76 No 3 Emperor
Mendelssohn String Quartet in E flat major Op 12
Beethoven String Quartet in E flat major Op 127

This full-length morning programme offers a second chance to hear the Quatuor Mosaïques – described by Le Monde as playing with “finesse, dramatic intent, grace, intelligence, and beautiful sonority”. Haydn’s Quartet Op 76 No 3 with its variations on the “Emperor’s Hymn”, and the spirited and highly original E flat Quartet by the 20-year-old Mendelssohn, precede Beethoven’s late Op 127 Quartet, which combines singing lyricism with dramatic surprises.
