The French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard has won high praise for his “well-tried combination of penetrating intelligence, scrupulous musicianship and a technique capable of meeting any challenge with unruffled aplomb”. Now a well-known figure in this country, thanks to his many concerto, chamber and solo performances and his artistic directorship of the Aldeburgh Festival, Aimard comes to Bath with a delectable programme of sonatas written by Mozart in his late teens and Beethoven in his late twenties, Ravel’s impressionistic suite Miroirs and two Chopin favourites.
