Selection by the Kirckman Concerts Society for its young artists’ scheme is a reliable indication of outstanding talent: and that is certainly the case with the Neapolitan-born pianist Mariangela Vacatello, whose London début at the Wigmore Hall was hailed as “a commanding recital from a very exciting player”. Her lunchtime programme consists of Bach’s Italian Concerto, an inventive sonata by the teenage Mozart, a lively Chopin rondo, and Stravinsky’s own virtuosic transcription of scenes from his ballet Petrushka.
