The Jerusalem Quartet – whose trademarks are, according to The Times, “passion, precision, warmth, a gold blend” – begins its second concert in the Assembly Rooms with a diverting overture in the shape of Hugo Wolf’s Italian Serenade. This is followed by Mozart’s evergreen Clarinet Quintet, with the eminent French clarinettist Paul Meyer, and after the interval by the last and most relaxed of Brahms’s three quartets.
