This year sees the 400th anniversary of the publication of Monteverdi’s epoch-making Vespro della Beata Vergine, a collection of psalms, sacred concertos, a hymn and a Magnificat for Vespers on a feast day of the Virgin Mary. “To tire of this wonderful, timeless masterpiece would be to tire of life” says Paul McCreesh, who directs this celebratory performance with his world-renowned Gabrieli Consort & Players in Bath’s historic and beautiful Abbey. Early booking is recommended for one of the highlights of the 2010 Mozartfest.
