The British violin star Daniel Hope, with his regular duo partner Sebastian Knauer, continues his celebration on disc and in concert of Joseph Joachim – probably the greatest violinist of the 19th century, a champion of the masterpieces of Beethoven, the friend and favoured interpreter of many composers including Brahms, and himself a gifted composer and arranger. This programme combines appealing miniatures with two major sonatas, Beethoven’s Kreutzer, for two virtuoso players, and Brahms’s First, intimate and lyrical.
