| Mozart | String Quintet in G minor K516 |
| Beethoven | Grosse Fuge Op 133 |
| Brahms | String Quintet No 2 in G major Op 111 |
The impressive biography of the British-based, internationally celebrated Belcea Quartet includes a five-year residency at that temple of chamber music the Wigmore Hall in London, and an exclusive recording contract with EMI. The first of the Quartet’s two programmes has Beethoven’s mighty Great Fugue as its centre-piece, between two of the finest string quintets in the repertoire, Mozart’s dramatic G minor and Brahms’s richly coloured G major. For these the Belceas will be joined by the charismatic and versatile violinist and, as on this occasion, violist Julian Rachlin.
